Join the U.S. Department of Transportation on Tuesday, September 29, at 1 p.m. ET as we launch the first-ever National Pedestrian Safety Month.
Over the past decade, the number of pedestrian fatalities has increased. USDOT and our safety partners work year-round to reduce these deaths, educate all road users on pedestrian safety, and remind us that at one time or another — everyone is a pedestrian — especially now as more people are walking. In October, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Federal Highway Administration will increase traffic safety awareness for pedestrians and drivers.

NHTSA will share a new tool and resources for pedestrian safety, and FHWA will discuss recent publications. Also, the Chair of GHSA and the State and Local Program Director for America Walks will talk about ideas and challenges facing states, and representatives from two states will share what they’re doing in October to keep walkers safe.
